493,081 real estate agents in the United States had a published brokerage profile (or, in Michigan, a licence-register entry) when we counted on September 5, 2026, across 20 brands. Each state, 1,047 cities and 705 brokerages have a page of their own; the state table below answers how many real estate agents each state has.
This is a count of working agents visible on brokerage websites, not of licences or association members, both of which run higher: the National Association of REALTORS® puts its membership at roughly 1.5 million, and state licence rolls, which include inactive licensees, are higher still. It is the only published figure of its kind that is counted person by person rather than surveyed, and it is dated, so it can be compared from one count to the next. The method is set out below; please cite the page and the date.

Websites, phone numbers and email
Among the 381,466 US agents whose profiles we check for a personal website, 7.2% have a site of their own rather than a page on the brokerage's site. 90.7% of the 448,532 checked agents publish a direct phone number. Every counted agent has a published email address, which is the inclusion rule. Nationally, 33% of those addresses are on a franchise domain, 35% on the agent's or the office's own domain, and 32% on free webmail such as Gmail or Yahoo. No address appears on this site.
Methodology
What is counted. A person is counted as a real estate agent when they have a live, individual profile on a brokerage's public agent directory that includes a published email address. Each person is counted once, under the brokerage, city and state shown on that profile. Michigan additionally includes 44,258 entries from the state licence register (LARA), which name a city but no brokerage; those rows are labelled on the Michigan page and excluded from every brokerage table.
What is not counted. Licences issued by a state, REALTOR® association membership, and agents at brokerages that publish no directory or that we do not yet cover. The National Association of REALTORS® reports roughly 1.5 million members, so this count is a large, dated sample of working agents, not a census. Rankings are therefore "among the networks we can see"; a brokerage outside those networks can be larger than any row shown.
Brand versus brokerage. "Brand" is the network (Coldwell Banker, RE/MAX, Keller Williams). "Brokerage" is the company named on the profile, which under a franchise brand is the franchisee (Coldwell Banker Realty, Coldwell Banker Apex). Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Compass, Real Broker, HomeSmart, LPT Realty, eXp Realty, Corcoran and Douglas Elliman publish no office names, so each appears as a single company. RE/MAX profiles carry a job title where the office should be, so every RE/MAX agent is attributed to the company "RE/MAX". The brand table and the brokerage table are separate so that no agent is counted twice within one table. An agent listed by two brands (436 cases) is attributed to the first.
Cities. Taken from the profile as published and normalised only for spelling and capitalisation; suburbs are separate from their core city, and 3.6% of profiles name no city. 20,283 profiles name no state and are counted only in the national total.
Websites and phones. Some directories never expose a personal website or phone field. Website and phone percentages are computed only over brands whose directories do (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Better Homes and Gardens, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, ERA, Fathom Realty, First Team Real Estate, HomeSmart, Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Real Brokerage, Sotheby's International Realty, eXp Realty and Signature Premier Properties for websites), and are withheld below a sample of 100. "Own website" means a site on the agent's own domain, not a page on the brokerage's site or a social profile.
Page thresholds. A city gets a page at 100 or more agents and a brokerage at 25 or more, so that every page has enough to say. Smaller cities and brokerages are still counted in every total.
Dates. Every page carries the date of the count and the date it was built. Counts are re-taken periodically; the "change over time" section on each page fills in once a second count exists.
What you will not find here. No agent names, emails, phone numbers or profile links appear anywhere on this site, by design and by an automated check on every build.
Where the data comes from
The per-agent rows behind every number on this site are the product of usrealtorlist.com, which sells them as state-by-state realtor email lists; this site publishes the aggregates and nothing else.
