How many real estate agents in Texas?

Count taken September 5, 2026Page built September 5, 2026

34,501 real estate agents in Texas had a published, current brokerage profile when we counted on September 5, 2026. That is 7.0% of the 493,081 agents counted across the United States, and ranks Texas 4th of 51 states and DC.

People also ask how many realtors in Texas there are; the number above is the answer if "realtor" means any working agent, and the questions section covers the strict, membership-based sense.

"Agent" on this page means a person with a live profile on a brokerage's website at the time of the count. It is not the number of licences Texas has issued, which is higher because many licensees are inactive or unaffiliated, and it is not REALTOR® association membership. The count covers 16 brands; see how the counting works for what is and is not included.

Top real estate brokerages in Texas

The ten biggest real estate companies in Texas by number of agents with a published profile. A company that publishes no office names (Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Compass and others) appears as one row.

By brand rather than company, Keller Williams has 9,023 (26%), Real Brokerage has 3,692 (11%), Coldwell Banker has 3,442 (10%), Compass has 3,303 (10%) and RE/MAX has 2,753 (8%). A brand's figure adds up every company operating under that name, so a franchise like Coldwell Banker or Century 21 is spread over many rows in the table above but appears once here.

Websites, phone numbers and email

Among the 29,053 Texas agents whose profiles we check for a personal website, 5.3% have a site of their own rather than a page on the brokerage's site. The national figure is 7.2%. 93.7% of the 34,501 checked agents publish a direct phone number (national: 90.7%). Every counted agent has a published email address, which is the inclusion rule. In Texas, 46% of those addresses are on a franchise domain, 25% on the agent's or the office's own domain, and 29% on free webmail such as Gmail or Yahoo. No address appears on this site.

Where the data comes from

The count is built from the public agent directories of 16 brokerage brands operating in Texas, led by Keller Williams, Real Brokerage, Coldwell Banker and Compass. Brands that publish no directory, and independent brokerages outside those networks, are not counted, so the true number of working agents is higher than the figure on this page; the ranking of brokerages and cities is among the networks we can see.

The source is a per-agent contact file, the Texas realtor list at usrealtorlist.com; an agent is counted here only if that file holds a published, current email address for them, which keeps the count to working agents.
