How many real estate agents in California?
Count taken September 5, 2026Page built September 5, 2026
58,902 real estate agents in California had a published, current brokerage profile when we counted on September 5, 2026. That is 11.9% of the 493,081 agents counted across the United States, and ranks California 1st of 51 states and DC.
People also ask how many realtors in California there are; the number above is the answer if "realtor" means any working agent, and the questions section covers the strict, membership-based sense.
"Agent" on this page means a person with a live profile on a brokerage's website at the time of the count. It is not the number of licences California has issued, which is higher because many licensees are inactive or unaffiliated, and it is not REALTOR® association membership. The count covers 18 brands; see how the counting works for what is and is not included.

| 10 | CENTURY 21 Masters | 1,301 | 2.2% | Century 21 |
By brand rather than company, Coldwell Banker has 12,650 (21%), Keller Williams has 8,296 (14%), Compass has 8,022 (14%), Century 21 has 5,892 (10%) and Real Brokerage has 5,359 (9%). A brand's figure adds up every company operating under that name, so a franchise like Coldwell Banker or Century 21 is spread over many rows in the table above but appears once here.

Websites, phone numbers and email
Among the 47,441 California agents whose profiles we check for a personal website, 10.5% have a site of their own rather than a page on the brokerage's site. The national figure is 7.2%. 90.9% of the 58,805 checked agents publish a direct phone number (national: 90.7%). Every counted agent has a published email address, which is the inclusion rule. In California, 31% of those addresses are on a franchise domain, 34% on the agent's or the office's own domain, and 35% on free webmail such as Gmail or Yahoo. No address appears on this site.
Where the data comes from
The count is built from the public agent directories of 18 brokerage brands operating in California, led by Coldwell Banker, Keller Williams, Compass and Century 21. Brands that publish no directory, and independent brokerages outside those networks, are not counted, so the true number of working agents is higher than the figure on this page; the ranking of brokerages and cities is among the networks we can see.
Every agent counted here has a published email address; that is the inclusion rule. The contact file itself, one row per agent, is sold as the California realtor email list at usrealtorlist.com, which is where these counts are drawn from.
